Louis Justin

Born in Normandy, Louis has been specialising in expedition voyages for two decades. As a lecturer, Louis shares his knowledge of the history of exploration and the sciences that made geographical discoveries possible. High on his list of interests are the voyages of the Vikings, the Normans and the Polynesians, and the first European ventures on the high seas: his favourite topics include the discoveries of unknown oceans and continents, the races to the New Worlds, the quests for long-sought maritime routes, the explorations of Earth’s remotest areas and the conquest of the poles. His interest for the world around also enables him to discuss subjects such as geophysics, navigation, weather and climate, geographical geology and the history of volcanology.

Most recently, Louis has led voyages along the Celtic, Viking and Norman shores of Europe, from Greenland and the Canadian Arctic to the Eastern Seaboard of North America and the Caribbean, in Alaska and the Russian Far East, along the Americas’ West Coasts from the Sea of Cortes to Patagonia, in New Zealand and across the Tropical Pacific, around Australia, Indonesia and Burma, in the Antarctic Peninsula and the sub-Antarctic islands.

Louis graduated from École des Hautes Études Commerciales (France) and Melbourne Business School (Australia), enjoys chess, classical music and opera, and holds unlimited British and French certifications to drive motor boats.
